Moroccanoil Treatment Original is a multitasking hair oil made for the space between care and styling. A small amount can be used on damp hair to help detangle and smooth, then again on dry lengths when a finished style needs extra shine or fewer flyaways.

What it does well

The formula combines argan oil and linseed extract with lightweight silicones. That mix is designed to improve slip, reduce the look of frizz and leave hair glossier and easier to manage. It works as a pre-styling step on towel-dried hair or as a finishing touch on dry ends, so one bottle can cover several jobs without adding another rinse-out step.

What to know before buying

This is a fragranced, silicone-based styling oil. That gives it much of its polished feel, but it will not suit every preference. Fine hair should begin with less than the suggested amount and avoid the roots. The Original version is positioned for all hair types; the brand also makes a Light version for fine or light-coloured hair.

A measured way to apply it

Work a small amount through clean, towel-dried hair from mid-lengths to ends, then blow-dry or let hair dry naturally. On dry hair, warm a trace between the palms and skim it over the ends and surface. Add gradually: a second drop is easier than correcting an overloaded finish.
